Welcome!
I am so glad you are here.
I'm Joleen, a Registered Counselling Therapist based in Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia), offering individual and relationship therapy both in person and online.
My Approach
I bring a compassionate, collaborative presence to therapy, grounded in the belief that healing emerges through curiosity, self-awareness, and reconnecting with parts of ourselves that may have been silenced, overlooked, or in pain. My intention is to foster a space where your inner world can be met with compassion and understanding, allowing space for growth, insight, and integration—at a pace that feels right for you.
Guided by trauma-informed, affirming, and anti-oppressive values, my work centres safety and respect. Rooted in anti-racism, queer theory, and feminism, I approach each session with a commitment to inclusivity and a deep respect for your lived experience and inner wisdom. I support folks navigating a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, self-discovery, and interpersonal challenges.
I draw from modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Somatic approaches, and attachment theory to support deep, lasting change. When working with couples, I incorporate Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy and Imago Relational Therapy to help foster meaningful communication, emotional attunement, and relational repair.
I’m here to meet you where you are, offering a steady and supportive space where healing, clarity, and connection can unfold.
About Me
Hi, I’m Joleen (she/her)! A queer, cisgender woman and Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate (RCT-C) living and working in Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia). I come to this work with deep respect for our innate capacity to heal and grow, and a commitment to showing up with authenticity, humility, and care.
My path into this field is deeply personal, shaped by my own journey of healing and self-discovery, which influences the way I create space for others. I’m especially passionate about supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and those navigating the complexities of trauma, identity, and relationships.
As a white settler, I hold the responsibility of approaching my work through an anti-oppressive and decolonial lens. I am forever reflecting, learning, and unlearning, to challenge harmful systems and expand my understanding of my role within them. I support this growth through personal therapy, consultation, and ongoing education, ensuring I remain attuned to the evolving needs of my clients and the world around us.

Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, we create space for you to slow down, reflect, and explore your inner world. Together, we’ll unpack past wounds and patterns, while gently untangling what no longer serves you. This process helps deepen self-trust, clarity, and connection with parts of yourself that may feel lost or overwhelmed, empowering you to move forward with greater awareness and compassion.
